IIS

(Internet Information Server) A web server for Windows operating systems. Developed by Microsoft.

IMAP

(Internet Message Access Protocol) A standard communication protocol for retrieving e-mails from an e-mail server. IMAP is much like POP but more advanced.

IP Address

Internet Protocol Addresses are numeric addresses such as "192.168.1.1" or "2001:0db8:3c4d:0015:0000:0000:abcd:ef12" which identify specific computers on the Internet. Conceptually, an IP address is like a street address — it directly specifies a specific unique place.

ISP

(Internet Service Provider) Someone that provides access to the Internet and web hosting.

Internet

A world wide network connecting millions of computers. (See also WWW)

Internet Explorer

A browser by Microsoft. The most commonly used browser today.
